The federal government has declared Friday, May 1 as public holiday in commemoration of the International Workers’ Day.
This is as the nation and many states are on lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The Ministry of Interior tweeted about this on Tuesday.
Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Raufaregbesola, lauded the Nigerian workers for complying with covid-19 public health advisory and for joining hands with government to ward off the pandemic.

He said that the labor force was and remained the driving force of the nation’s socio-economic growth as they celebrate workers’ day.
“With the cooperation of every citizen as well as strict adherence to the measures being put in place by relevant authorities, the challenges being faced by Nigerians as a result of the disease would soon be put behind,” he said.
The minister assured that the nation would bounce back again, adding that every Nigerian should remain calm and hopeful.
