Daniel Bwala, an adviser to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has stated that President Bola Tinubu declined to designate some of his followers as ministers due to the European Union report.
The European Union Election Observation Mission had named a former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, and an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Femi Fani-Kayode, as propagators of fake news during Nigeria’s 2023 general election.
The EU accused Keyamo and Fani-Kayode of deceiving Nigerians during the 2023 general elections by circulating fake news.

The EU Observers identified instances in which both APC leaders spread false information while campaigning for their candidates.
Bwala believes Tinubu’s refusal to name some of his most ardent supporters was due to the EU findings.
He claimed that Tinubu was astute and did not want to sour relations with the Union.
Speaking via Twitter, he wrote, “PBAT na sharp President ohh. He knows how much he values the European Union’s opinion and wants to please them. Have you not noticed that those who EU reckon as CERTIFIED MERCHANTS OF FAKE NEWS. Tinubu refused to appoint them as ministers?”
