WE NEED POLITICAL ACTION TO FIGHT CORRUPTION – ABIODUN-FUSIKI
A lawyer and human rights activist, Mr Adeyinka Abiodun-Fusika, has called for a collective effort from Nigerians to fight corruption in the country.
Abiodun-Fusika, who was the chairman of the maiden Gani Fawehinmi Impact and Integrity Award organised by the Human and Environmental Development Agenda in partnership with the MacArthur Foundation, United Kingdom, said narratives must change in the fight against corruption.
He said, “I believe that we need political action to fight corruption. We will be the ones to salvage our country, we all need to be involved if we want to combat corruption. It goes beyond rhetoric.
“The only way to solve the problem is to replace corrupt leaders with men of integrity. If the police, EFCC and the rest are recruiting, and you know you are not corrupt, don’t fold your arms, join them. It is not only when you hold an elective position that you will be able to fight corruption.”
