Residents of some FCT communities have resorted to fetching water from streams and water bodies (not the cleanest) since the scarcity started a few weeks back.
Residents living in Kubwa and the adjoining satellite towns of Bwari, Dede, Dutse, Kaigini, among others, have two options, to patronise water hawkers or join long queues at public boreholes.
A resident in Kubwa who identified herself as Aisha described the situation as worrisome while calling on the relevant authorities to ensure that water was restored.
She said: “This is Kubwa and we come to this borehole every day and you have to wake up by 4am and queue because if you don’t come on time, you will not get water.
“It is already a week now and we don’t even know when the water will come because they did not even give us the assurance of when we are going to have water.
“In other places, there is no water and this is the only borehole that is serving us here, and those that cannot wait will go and buy from meiruwa(water hawkers) at the rate of N250.”

The FCT Water Board had last week appealed to residents to persevere pending when repairs and maintenance work are carried out on the Usama Dam Treatment Plant.
Meanwhile, Anaedoonline.ng reported the challenge of perennial water scarcity in Enugu had got to a point when citizens and residents cannot take it any longer.
To express their displeasure with the development which appeared to have come to stay, some of them took to Twitter on Thursday, sharing pictures of students on long queues, waiting for water and children trekking long distances to get water.
With the #NowaterinEnugu, some Twitter users drew the attention of the general public to the fact that despite several water projects reportedly initiated by the current administration under Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, water scarcity has remained a major problem in the state.
