Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has urged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to expel Atiku Abubakar as the party’s 2023 presidential candidate.
He also encouraged the PDP to oust Waziri Tambuwal, the former governor of Sokoto State and director general of the PDP’s 2023 presidential campaign.
Wike, who made the judgement on Thursday during an interview on the political series Politis Today on Channels Television, blamed both men and people like them for the party’s defeat in the 2023 general election.
Wike Reveals There’s Nobody In PDP That Can Suspend Him
He asserted that the PDP’s defeat was caused by certain of its members and its presidential candidate disobeying the rules of justice and fairness.
He added that expelling such people is necessary for rebuilding the party.
“Look at the areas that the PDP did not win because of high-handedness, because of greed because of impunity. If the PDP had done what they were supposed to do, then you could have talked about that.
“There should be equity, there should be justice, there should be fairness and that is why I am calling on the National Working Committee they should suspend the presidential candidate, suspend people like Aminu Tambuwal so that they can rebuild the party (PDP),” he said.
