Jideofor Adibe, a political analyst, has examined the reinstatement of the former national song, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee.”
On May 29, Special, Channels Television hosted Adibe and Sani as guests in honour of President Bola Tinubu’s first anniversary.
Adibe called it “shadowboxing” and questioned the wisdom of altering the national anthem at this crucial juncture.

According to him, “That for me is shadowboxing. Is that the problem? I think they are leaving the substance to chase the shadow. What does it change? Does it change the price of food in the market?” he queried.
Recall that early on Wednesday morning, President Bola Tinubu signed the new national anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee,” into law.
President Tinubu’s signing of the measure into law on Wednesday made sure that Nigeria’s national song, “Arise, O Compatriots,” was abandoned.
