Peter Obi and the Labour Party were defeated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT).
All petitions contesting the win of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the February 25th presidential election were rejected by the tribunal judges under the leadership of Justice Simon Tsammani.
The Election Petition Labour determined that the Party and Peter Obi’s claim that INEC must electronically transfer presidential election results was unfounded.

“Where the petitioners alleged that the winner of an election did not score the majority of the lawful votes cast, they must prove two sets of results.
“The one they alleged is the lawful results
“The one they are challenging,” the tribunal ruled.
The panel noted that President Tinubu had been exonerated of drug-related offences in the US and that the Labour Party’s claim of fraud against him could not be supported by evidence.
The decision revealed that the Independent National Electoral Commission is allowed to select its method of transmitting results while determining that Abuja is not special and that a majority in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is not required to win the presidency.

According to the Election Petition Tribunal, Peter Obi’s evidence did not establish that he had won the presidential election.
Tsammani said that Peter Obi and the Labour Party had failed to substantiate their assertion that the difficulties that prevented the INEC from uploading the presidential results were purposefully engineered to skew the outcome.
He claimed that INEC conducted the 2023 presidential election in considerable accordance with the requirements of the Electoral Act, 2022.
