Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s First Lady, hosted the wives of the 36 state governors in the State House on Friday.
According to Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady’s media aide, the meeting aims to formally introduce and familiarise the governors’ wives with the objectives and mission of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
The First Lady complimented the governors’ wives on the smooth conduct of the 2023 elections that elected their husbands and reminded them that it is now time to keep promises made during the elections.

Mrs Tinubu stated that she will need the wives of state governors’ cooperation to reach every nook and cranny of the country, noting that looking at the past can most assuredly chart a path for the present and future and this can best be done collectively for better and more sustainable impact.
Tinubu promised the governors’ wives that the RHI would not interfere with their personal plans or projects, and that she feels their support will be significant.
She said, “I wish to remind each of us that the exalted positions we are in today should be seen as an opportunity to impact more meaningfully, not only in the lives of people in your states but Nigeria as a whole.”
During a press conference following the meeting, the wife of Kwara State Governor, Amb. Olufolake Abdulrazak, assured media of the governors’ wives’ desire and commitment to support the project.

She claimed that the governors’ spouses will return and nominate zonal coordinators to take the lead in reaching the grassroots.
Abdulrasaq also confirmed that RHI will not have any impact on their specific projects in their respective states, but will instead supplement their efforts.
