11 employees of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) were fired due to charges of bribery and extortion.
On Thursday, November 30, 2023, a disciplinary panel would consider the cases of 12 officers who had committed various infractions. There was only one official found not guilty of any crimes.
According to a statement made by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, the panel, which included the Acting General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Bakare Oki Olalekan, and three permanent secretaries, recommended the dismissal of the 11 officials to the State Civil Service Commission for ratification.

Additionally, he asked the public to assist the agency in its reorganisation by reporting any dishonest officers via any of the organization’s complaint hotlines, along with supporting documentation.
He declared that the organisation was committed to eliminating the few negative aspects harming its reputation and guaranteeing effective traffic control throughout the state.
