The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Umuahia’s decision to reject the election of Hon. Amobi Ogah, the candidate for the Isikwuato Umunneochi Federal Constituency in Abia State, was overturned by the Lagos Division of Court of Appeal on Friday.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate and current Minister of State for Labour, Nkiruka Onyejeocha, was declared the election’s victor by the tribunal in September, nullifying Ogah’s election.

Ogah made his way to the Court of Appeal in order to contest the ruling.
In its ruling, the Appeal Court reversed the tribunal’s conclusion.
The appellate court said the appeal of the Labour Party candidate was meritorious and allowed same, thereby setting aside the ruling of the lower court.
