General Yakubu Gowon, a former military chief of state, is optimistic that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Trust Fund Bill would be handled.
Gowon made the observation on Friday in Abuja when the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier-General Yushau Ahmed, accompanied some directors, staff, and corps members on a visit to commemorate his 89th birthday, according to a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa.
As to the statement, Gowon implored the scheme to maintain optimism on the bill’s success and to continue flying the NYSC flag with unique innovations.

“The former military head of state charged the corps members to continue to be disciplined, loyal and patriotic in their service to the country,” the statement explained.
The former head of state, who turned 89 years old, was earlier congratulated by Brigadier-General Ahmed, the scheme’s director-general.
He prayed to God for additional years to bless the former head of state, since his richness of knowledge at the time of the scheme’s inception continued to benefit it.
