Mr Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has been re-arrested by the Department of State Service (DSS) at the Federal High Court in Lagos.
Earlier in the day, the DSS arraigned Emefiele on a two-count charge of illegal possession of guns.
Justice Nicolas Oweibo, the trial judge, had granted Emefiele bail in the amount of N20 million with a guarantee in the same amount.

The judge also signed a warrant for his remand in Lagos’ Ikoyi prison, pending the completion of his bail.
However, an earlier attempt by prison authorities to take Emefiele into custody as directed by the court resulted in the prison officials’ chief being beaten by DSS operatives.
Following the intervention of probably an order from above, the jail personnel exited the court moments later.
DSS agents positioned their two Hilux pick-up vans well as the prison cars drove away, while its operatives massed outside the courtroom.
