A lawsuit intended to stop the inauguration of President-elect Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, was dismissed by an Abuja Federal High Court.
In the lawsuit, it was claimed that Tinubu’s documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission contained errors regarding his age and citizenship.
In his judgement on Friday, Justice James Omotosho called the case filed by Praise Ilemona Isaiah, Pastor Paul Isaac Audu, and Anongu Moses “frivolous” and a “abuse of the court process.”

He claimed that because the lawsuit related to a presidential election, the court lacked jurisdiction to hear it and the plaintiffs lacked standing to submit it.
The applicants did not have locus standi to launch the lawsuit, according to the court, despite the fact that they participated in the February 25 presidential election simply as voters.
Justice Omotosho ordered the concerned Nigerians to pay N10 million in costs in favor of Tinubu, N5 million in costs in favor of the APC, and N1 million in costs for the two parties’ attorneys who represented the petitioners.
