The government of Anambra State has stated that all former West African Examination Council (WAEC) supervisors in the state have been removed of their responsibilities as of this year.
The news was made by Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, Commissioner for Education, at the 71st WAEC Day celebration on Wednesday in Nise, Awka South Local Government Area of the state.
She also stated that WAEC supervisors would be held accountable for examination malpractice in schools going forward.
According to Ms Chuma-Udeh, such activities would result in fines and punishments for the school or center.

“We want to have a new crop of supervisors, and if there is a case of examination malpractice in any school or centre, the supervisor there will be held responsible.
“WAEC punishment for culprits of examination malpractice should commensurate with the offence committed, and it should be meted out to the right offenders,” she said.
She stated that the decision was one of the state ministry’s primary initiatives to combat examination malpractice in the state.
The commissioner stated that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s government was committed to addressing examination misconduct in order to generate quality personnel who would contribute to the state’s growth and be exportable internationally.
