Onyebuchi Steven, a driver employed by the Government House Umuahia who was involved in a collision with a commercial motorbike rider in Ohafia on Sunday, has been suspended immediately pending an inquiry, according to Abia State Governor Alex Otti.
According to a statement from the state’s government office that Chief Press Secretary Kazie Uko provided to Newsmen, an inquiry will be carried out to determine if the driver was at fault or not.
According to the news release, Otti also gave the Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, Commissioner for Health, a directive to follow up and see to it that Orji Felix, the injured okada rider, gets the best medical care at no cost to him or his family.

Felix was ready to ride off when he was struck by Steven, the driver of a Toyota Hilux pickup truck. Felix had just picked up a passenger from the side of the road.
According to the state government, the tragedy occurred on Federal Road near the Old Soldier junction in Ohafia. The biker and his passenger were immediately taken to a hospital close to the accident scene.
Felix, according to Okoronkwo, sustained many fractures on his left leg and right arm, while the passenger was treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital in Ohafia and released.
“The 18-year-old Okada rider was subsequently evacuated in an ambulance from Ohafia to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia, after he was attended to by Dr. Okoronkwo, who applied first aid on him and bandaged his injured leg and arm.
“Felix is currently admitted at the Crowther Ward, FMC, where he is recuperating. Nurses on duty, as of Sunday night, described his condition as very stable,” the statement read.

The patient, now receiving full medical attention, was seen interacting and responding to questions posed to him. “The pain is not much again,” he replied when asked about the pain in his left leg.
Even though it acknowledged the efforts of those on duty in caring for the hurt okada man, the state government also stated that Okoronkwo later returned to the FMC on Sunday night to check on the patient’s progress and reiterated Otti’s order that the victim should receive the best medical care.
