Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on Saturday, donated the sum of 10 million naira to wives of soldiers who have died in other to help take care of their needs.
Ugwuanyi made the donation at the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army 2019 West African Social Activities (WASA) which held at the division’s Parade Ground Abapka Cantonement Enugu.
The governor said the donation was part of his administration’s way of showing appreciation to the army for their unwavering commitment towards securing lives and property of citizens in the state.
“The 2019 general elections we had in the state was peaceful and that was because we had the full support of the Nigerian army who were always on hand to prevent the outbreak of law” he said.

Ugwuanyi said his administration will continue to support and collaborate with officers and men of the Nigerian army in the state.
Earlier in his address, the Grand Officer Commanding, GOC of the 82 division of the Nigerian Army, Maj Gen. Lasisi Adeboye said the division will remain focused, dedicated and resilient in order to fully consolidate on the achievements recorded in 2019.
He commended the officers for their dedication and unwavering commitment to the duty of protecting lives and property.
He explained that the WASA is one of the rich traditions of the NA which is aimed at promoting team spirit and provides an avenue for the barrack community to showcase the various rich and diverse cultural heritage of the country.
