Grand National Assembly representative and member of Turkey’s Saadat Party, Hasan Bitmez, passed out during a vehement speech criticising Israel.
The event happened on Tuesday during the General Assembly meeting in the province of Kocaeli.
Bitmez, 53, had just finished a lecture in which he fiercely criticised Israel and warned that the country would suffer from Allah’s anger.
Bitmez had just declared that “Israel will be smitten with the anger of Allah” and cursed the country.
But as the Parliament’s live broadcast cameras saw, there was a sharp decline after his passionate speech.
Lawmakers quickly flocked to his defence, and those with medical training provided first aid.
Bitmez was quickly taken to the hospital by ambulance, where it was said that his condition was critical.
Later on social media, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca verified that the lawmaker had been admitted to Bilkent City Hospital’s critical care unit.
The incident has brought attention to the possible health hazards linked with passionate public speeches and sparked discussions both inside and outside of the Turkish Parliament.
