There are reports that on Friday, August 18, at the Presidential Villa’s main gate, the accreditations of 25 journalists covering the residence were revoked.
According to information obtained by Anaedoonline.ng, President Bola Tinubu allegedly gave security instructions to revoke the accreditations of the journalists on various platforms.
Reporters claims that on Friday, August 18, security personnel stationed at the Presidential Villa’s main gate ordered the impacted journalists to turn in their accreditation tags without providing any further justification.

According to the study, affected journalists included writers, cameramen, and photojournalists from a wide range of broadcast, print, and internet media outlets, including PromptNews, ONTV, ITV Abuja, Liberty, Vanguard, Galaxy TV, Ben TV, MITV, and many others.
The impacted journalists claim they were instructed to ask their coworkers for video clips and other journalistic content.
Affected journalists have reportedly criticised the action, saying it is unacceptable that the President is allegedly trying to reduce the size of the media. Additionally, they have urged civil society groups to take action against media persecution and oppression.
They continued by stating that any branch of government has the right to a free press, and that the media is an essential component of any democracy.
