President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to give him praise when he does well in office and constructive criticism when he does not.
When he opened the Nigerian Bar Association’s (NBA) annual conference on Sunday in Abuja, Tinubu made the remark.
“If I do well, please praise me, and if I don’t do well, please criticize me to do well,” the president’s spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, quoted Tinubu as saying in a statement.
The conference, themed, ‘Getting it Right: Charting the Course for Nigeria’s Nation-Building’, had over 16,000 lawyers in attendance.

President Tinubu was thanked for attending the occasion by NBA President Barrister Yakubu Maikyau (SAN), who also praised him for his record and accomplishments in Lagos State.
He said: “Your excellency, we can’t talk about getting it right, which is the theme of this conference, without talking about your track record and your achievements in Lagos State. You have done well; on behalf of all our members, I welcome your excellency to this conference with renewed hope.”
Attorney-General of the Federation Lateef Fagbemi, President’s Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike were all in attendance.
Others include John Enoh, the minister of sports, the former secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha, and other top government officials.
