-We need to Reform our Educational System
The former deputy governor of Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) Professor Kingsley Chidi Moghalu has called on Nigeria youths to arise and take charge in Nigeria politics.
The presidential candidate of YPP in the 2019 general election who was a guest speaker at the Anaedoonline 2nd anniversary, whiling doing justice on the topic “Governance, accountability career growth and the importance of the synergy to achieve a sustainable society” emphasized that the future of Nigeria youth is bright because more than 67 percent of Nigeria population are youths and that if a good number of youths will wake up and take the bull by the horn, things will change for the better.Moghalu who spoke extensively regretted the fact that a good number of Nigerian youths are not employed and are also not employable.
The professor of international business and public policy while giving solutions to the numerous problems the Nigeria youth is facing encouraged young minds to take up the challenge and be the change they want to see.
“Nobody will build your future for you if you don’t take the bull by the horn. When you focus on stomach infrastructure, you have succeeded in selling your future and that of your children. Young people need to join politics early enough and show capacity, he said.
“Youths need to be informed. The more educated youths we have, the better for our country. The biggest obstacle the young people are facing is using social media against themselves instead of being innovative with it. We need our youths to be forward-thinking.
Moghalu, a political economist, lawyer and former United Nations official, urged politicians/leaders to concentrate more on building a youthful based economy.
“I decided to go into politics because I had a vision for our country. In the next 30 years, the population of Nigeria will double and it is sad to know that our government has not created a good enabling environment for our youths to strive.
“The youth should speak up. They need to come out in large numbers. More people should be engaged. A lot of young minds don’t know they have the power and capacity.
While responding to questions from participants who connected through all social media channels and on Zoom conference, he added by saying “the solution is simple, “we need to prepare our youths for vocational skills. our education needs to be reformed”.
“Our children need to be taught to be skilful. The curriculum in our education sector from primary to tertiary stage needs to be reformed. Higher concentration on science and technology, vocational skills and entrepreneurship is needful.
Sadly, our politicians have a poor priority for youths, he lamented.
