The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) in the United Kingdom is launching an investigation into more than 500 Nigerian applicants due to suspected fraudulent activities during nursing exams in Nigeria. The probe centers around a test center in Ibadan, Oyo State, known as Yunnik Technologies.
The NMC oversees the regulation of nursing and midwifery professions in the UK and maintains a registry of qualified professionals. To be included in this registry, international candidates must pass two assessments: a Computer-Based Test (CBT) in their home country and a practical test in the UK.
Concerns about exam fraud at the Yunnik Technologies test center were raised in May, prompting an investigation by the NMC. The investigation uncovered extensive fraudulent activities related to CBT services provided by the center.

According to reports in the UK journal Nursing Standard, numerous Nigerian applicants had acquired fraudulent results from Yunnik Technologies. As a result, over 1,950 candidates who submitted results from this test center are now required to retake the examination.
The NMC also found evidence of proxy testers at the test center, raising suspicions that 48 out of the 515 professionals who took the test at this location had fraudulently registered for the exams. The investigation aims to ensure the integrity of the nursing profession in the UK and maintain high standards of practice.
