The News Of High Ranking Nigerian Doctor Who Died Out Of Hospital’s Negligence, ”Sets Twitter On Fire”
A Nigerian Doctor has lamented the sorry state of Nigeria’s medical system after a Doctor died of a cardiac arrest in a Federal Medical Centre (FMC).
Dr Olufunmilayo was infuriated after the news filtered into the social media, about the death of the General Secretary of Federal Medical Centre FMC Abeokuta, Dr Steve, who died of cardiac arrest right inside Federal Medical Centre Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

According to reports, the Doctor died because the hospital didn’t have a functional defibrillator after the medical personel applied CPR on the Doctor for 2 hours.
Doctor Olufunmilayo who was visibly angry wondered how an oil-producing state which is coincidentally Ex-President Goodluck Johnathan’s state does not have a single defibrillator.
”An oil-producing state, the same state of the immediate former President of Nigeria, does not have any functional defibrillator in its ”Federal Medical Centre.” This is an absolute scandal. In serious countries, heads will roll, people will lose their jobs and end in jail.”

Speaking further, he said,” A defibrillator is life-saving equipment. It should be like paracetamol or cotton wool in any hospital. Here in the UK, petrol stations, games arena, train stations, etc all have a defibrillator. But in Nigeria, an FMC don’t have it, shame!”
More Nigerians Reacted saying;
Nnamdi Anekwe said,” This is a daily occurrence in Nigeria and I mean business. This is news because the victim was a doctor. Lack of emergency medical care in Nigeria is scary”

Dr. Abdulquadri said;
”Rip Dr. Steve. I can’t describe how painful this news is. Especially because of the kind of person you were. Everyone loved you. You were friendly and always ready to help junior colleagues. The circumstances surrounding your death makes it even painful. Too sad.”
De’bolwale Osho had a similar story, he said;
”My friend’s dad died cause his oxygen finished in the morning and they couldn’t find any oxygen until the old man passed away around 5 pm. Nothing good is happening in Nigeria, TBH.”
A defibrillator is an apparatus used to control heart fibrillation by application of an electric current to the chest wall or heart.
