In the most recent FIFA Women’s ranking, which was revealed on Friday, Nigeria’s Super Falcons have risen eight positions to 32nd in the world and 1st in Africa.
Prior to the World Cup, the team was ranked 40th in the rankings that were made public in June.
Only Morocco, which increased their points by 104.22 to go from 1334.08 to 1438.3 and move up 58 places in the world rankings, had a higher point increase than the Super Falcons, who went from 1554.94 to 1649.08.
The Lionesses of England eliminated Nigeria in the round of 16 of the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand after a 4-2 loss on penalties. Nigeria finished second in the group and went undefeated.
Sweden, which earned a third-place finish at the World Cup, is now ranked number one in the world.
Similarly, World Cup winners Spain are now ranked second in the world, with the USA, England, and France completing the top 5 in the latest rankings.
