With only three days remaining before he is replaced by a new administration, President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday officially launched six new projects in several states of the nation.
According to news sources, President Buhari reportedly commissioned projects in the states of Kaduna and Ebonyi today.
The projects, according to Bashir Ahmad, the president’s special assistant for digital communications, are:

• New International Terminal, Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano
• 3000 Capacity Janguza Custodial Center, Kano
• Nigerian Navy Logistics College, Dawakin Tofa, Kano
• Projects at the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria, Kaduna
• 199km Ebonyi Ring Road Project
• Muhammadu Buhari International Airport, Ebonyi (state owned).
Meanwhile, in another story, Just a few days before President Muhammadu Buhari’s term ends, the Nigerian federal administration defended its recent decisions over contract awards and external borrowing.
Babatunde Fashola, the minister of works and housing, declared that contracts would still be awarded up until May 28 at midnight.
Fashola outlined his position when launching the N 90 billion improvement of the 49-kilometer Akure/Ado-Ekiti highway in Akure, the seat of Ondo state.

“People are asking why we are still awarding contracts when we have just a few days to go. It is a juvenile conversation. They forgot, among other things, that the term of this administration ends at midnight on May 28,” he stated.
Fashola contends that ongoing contract awards are necessary due to the complexity of governance, particularly as it relates to infrastructure and public debt.
The Minister maintained that the only ways to fund infrastructure development were through taxes or borrowing, saying that the NNPC will pay the N90 billion cost of the highway project through the federal government’s tax credit program.
