The urgent need to address the nation’s security issues has caused the Senate to reschedule its meeting with Olayemi Cardoso, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), for this Friday.
Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, revealed this information to media on Tuesday in Abuja.
He claimed the committee had waited for about two hours for Mr. Cardoso, who was busy with another session with the House of Representatives.

He said that the committee decided to move the meeting to Friday by 9:00 a.m., as the Senate had asked the service chiefs to appear before it on Wednesday and Thursday.
He stated, “After waiting close to two hours for the CBN governor on the planned interface, we have resolved to postpone it to Friday by 9:00 a.m. prompt.
”Postponement of the interface between our committee and the CBN governor arose from the fact that he and other managers of the nation’s economy have been interfacing with our colleagues in the House of Representatives since morning without knowing when exactly the session will end.
“We would have fixed Wednesday or Thursday as a new day for the interface, but the Senate, as a whole, has fixed the two days for very critical and constructive engagement with the service chiefs.

In addition, the Senate established a nine-person delegation headed by Senator Adamu Aliero (PDP-Kebbi) to offer condolences to the late senator’s family, the administration, and the people of Yobe State.
