Nnamdi Kanu, The Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has entangled and engaged another American lobbying firm in his bid to gain the US government’s support for the group.
According to a report by Premium Times, verified by Anaedoonline.ng Kanu’s deal with BW Global Group (BWGG), LLC, signed in February 2021, could cost as much as $750,000, which is over N300 million at the current exchange rate if it runs for one year as projected.
The purpose of the deal, according to the report, is to convince top American government officials, lawmakers, policymakers, and opinion leaders in Washington DC to buy into IPOB’s secessionist agenda in Nigeria.
Kanu previously contracted another US lobbying firm, Mercury Public Affairs, LLC, to render similar services, and their deal expired in September 2020. It was not immediately clear if it was renewed.
The IPOB leader had paid $85,000 per month from September 23, 2019, to September 22, 2020, with a $5,000 one-time compliance fee to Mercury Public Affairs.
The Mercury deal could have cost the IPOB leader $1,025,000, more than N400 million at the exchange rate of the time, if it ran for one year, although it could not be established that it did.

Last year, the Nigerian Presidency railed against the previous deal, which it said was aimed at pitching the Federal Government of Nigeria against its American and European Union counterparts.
