Sallah: IG Orders Tight Security, FRSC Deploys 2,490 Officers
Ahead of the Eid-el-kabir celebration, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered tight security nationwide.
Adamu also directed all assistant inspectors-general and commissioners of police in charge of zones and state commands nationwide to deploy adequate operational manpower and equipment to protect all places of public interest.
Confirming this in a statement in Abuja on Friday, the Force spokesman, DCP Frank Mba, stated that security would also be beefed up around shopping malls, motor parks, financial institutions, places of worship and recreational centres to enable holiday makers, worshippers, and the general public to enjoy optimum safety and security during the season.
It said, “The IGP, in particular, has directed that all state commissioners of police, including the Federal Capital Territory, should put in place strategic and customized security deployment on major highways in their areas of responsibilities to ensure adequate safety for travellers and other road users.”

Adamu congratulated all Nigerians, especially the Muslim Ummah, as they joined other faithful all over the world in celebrating the Sallah.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Hyginus Omeje, says it has deployed 1,214 officers and 1,276 Special Marshal to manage traffic during the Sallah break.
Omeje told the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Lagos that special attention would be given to Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Lekki-Epe Expressway and Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
