In Shagamu, Ogun State, the Ogun State Police Command and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria have detained seven people they believe to be members of a cult and have also seized three live rounds, three guns, and illegal charms.
Omolola Odutola, the state’s public relations officer, revealed this in a statement on Tuesday.
The raid, according to the statement, was carried out in reaction to a cult clash between the Aiye and Eiye rival cult groups that left four people dead at Ewu Iya in the Sakura region of the state.

Asaiye Omolaja, Azeez Nofiu, Mathew Adewale, and Bolaji Ogunkemaya were the suspects taken into custody.
He mentioned that Bolaji Ogunkemaya was discovered in the same room as the murders along with four other corpses.
Bolaji Ogunkemaya, one of the suspects who was apprehended, claimed that their commander is known as Azubike aka Better.
Alamutu Mustapha, the commissioner of police, travelled to Sagamu on Monday to personally inspect the situation and profile each suspect detained.
Mustapha issued a warning to all cult members in Ogun state, informing them that their behaviour would no longer be tolerated and that, if discovered, they would face harsh punishment.

The statement partly reads “The Ogun State Police Command in Sagamu conducted a successful raid led by ACP Shehu Alao in collaboration with the VGN. This operation was carried out in response to a report of a clash between two rival cult groups, namely Aiye and Eiye, resulting in the death of four individuals at Ewu Iya Sunday in SAKURA.
“The individuals apprehended were Asaiye Omolaja, Azeez Nofiu, Mathew Adewale, and Bolaji Ogunkemaya. It is worth noting that Bolaji Ogunkemaya was found with the four deceased persons in the same room where the killings occurred. One individual, Wasiu, managed to escape before the authorities arrived.
“CP Mustapha sternly warns all cultists in Ogun State that their activities will no longer be tolerated. He has declared a zero-tolerance policy towards senseless killings and vows that none of these cultists will go unpunished.

Abiodun Alamutu, the commissioner of police for Ogun State, had said on Monday that eight people had died in the cult violence in the Sagamu region of the state.
