The appointment of new police commissioners for the state commands of Borno and Bayelsa has been authorized by the Police Service Commission.
Alausa Tolani for Bayelsa State and Yusuf Lawal for Borno State are the newly appointed commissioners.
The nominations were confirmed by the commission at its current 21st plenary at its corporate headquarters in Abuja, according to a statement released on Monday by the agency’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani.
Ani said that Solomon Arase, the chairman of the commission, asked the CPs to rethink their plans and make sure they drove criminal groups out of their spheres of influence.

The statement partly read, “Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Solomon Arase, charged the newly appointed Commissioners to ensure that Mr. President’s vision for improved national security is accorded the required attention.
“Arase said the war against terror and terrorism in Nigeria must be won and called on state Command Commissioners to re-strategise and take over the public space currently being distorted by non-state actors. ”
Ani said the commission chairman promised to continue creating an enabling environment for officers to give their best, adding that Nigeria’s security remains a priority for national growth.
