The case of the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has been postponed by the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal until Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
According to Newsmen, the decision was reached on Wednesday at the hearing of LP and Obi’s suit contesting Bola Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 presidential election.
Livy Uzoukwu (SAN), the principal attorney for LP and Peter Obi, had earlier said that it would be preferable to postpone the case till Wednesday so that all non-contentious processes could be filed and the tribunal could begin appropriately.

In order to prevent more delays and allow for a proper start, Uzoukwu stated that the adjournment would be ready for hearing.
Lawyers for the APC, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), Tinubu and Shettima, Wole Olanipekun (SAN), and INEC, Abubakar Mahmoud (SAN), have all indicated that a consensus has been reached on the materials that would be permitted for the main hearing.
APC and Tinubu’s legal representatives stated that they needed Monday and Tuesday to complete all replies and make sure everything was prepared for kidnapping.
The justices then decided to postpone the hearing on the case to Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
One of the judges went on to say that the parties’ streamlined documentation will speed up and simplify the court’s proceedings, and he congratulated everyone for reaching this decision.
