Former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Kingsley Moghalu, has accused Nigerian politicians of misusing their positions of power in the wake of the battery of Joe Ajaero, the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
The former deputy governor of the Apex Bank made this accusation and issued a warning in a tweet on Thursday, stating that the acts of Nigerian politicians are not creating an atmosphere that is conducive to the expansion of businesses in the nation.
With such trends, he contended, the nation could not draw in investment that would change the game.

“Political leaders instigated the vicious beating of @NLCHeadquarters President Joe Ajaero on partisan political grounds. This is condemnable. Now that the labour movement has responded and grounded economic activities, some are uncomfortable. Let’s pull back from abuse of poweras deployed for partisan politics in our country,” he wrote.
“This is NOT an enabling environment for the growth of business and the economy. We should not delude ourselves that we can attract game-changing investment in our country in this kind of environment. Let’s first do the work at home by creating the enabling environment, which includes putting the economy and our broader national interest ahead of partisan excesses,” he added.
A few hours have passed since the NLC called off its two-day strike.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, the labour union started an indefinite strike in response to the treatment of its head in the state of Imo. The union is calling for the prosecution of individuals accountable for Ajaero’s brutalization.
