The Nigeria Police Force has taken disciplinary action against two officers involved in an assault incident that occurred in Rivers State earlier this year. Officer Adejoh Siaka was demoted from the rank of Inspector to Sergeant, while another officer, Sergeant Ndiwa Kpuebari, received severe reprimand for their role in the assault.

The incident, which took place on April 9 in the Emouha area of Rivers State, gained public attention after a video of the assault went viral on social media. The footage depicted a police officer slapping and whipping a man.
In response to the video, police spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi issued a statement on Sunday, September 24, confirming the actions taken by the police force. Adejobi emphasized that the matter had been thoroughly addressed by the police, and a press statement had been released on April 18, 2023, to inform the public of the actions taken.

Inspector Adejoh Siaka was demoted from his rank to Sergeant following complaints and an orderly room trial. Sergeant Ndiwa Kpuebari received a severe reprimand for his involvement in the incident. Additionally, Inspector Friday Obaka, who was absent from the scene, was discharged unconditionally.
Adejobi expressed astonishment at the video resurfacing as a new incident and urged the public to disregard it. He cautioned against the circulation of misleading information and emphasized the importance of verifying facts before making claims on social media.
