The issue of the non-transmission of result sheets to IReV has been dismissed by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, or PEPT.
The transfer of election results to IReV was not required, according to Justice Haruna Tsammani.
No legislation mandates the transmission of election results from polling places, the presiding judge emphasised.

The Labour Party’s petition over the implications of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) tardiness in uploading the photographic election result sheets to IReV was decided upon by Tsammani.
According to Tsammani: “There is no law that says INEC must mandatorily transfer or transmit the results of the election from the polling units electronically.”
He maintained that INEC has the legal authority to choose how the results of elections in Nigeria will be tallied.
