Five persons have been reportedly killed while scores sustained various degrees of injuries during a robbery operation in Onitsha, Anambra state.
The robbery attack which took place in a petrol station and pharmacy shop in the commercial city came a few hours after the launch of super-smart closed-circuit cameras (CCTVs) by the state governor, Willie Obiano.
it was gathered that two females and three males were among the casualties in the attack at the filing station around Borromeo round-about and the pharmacy shop along Awka road.
The robbers, numbering about six, were said to have driven into the petrol station at about 2.00 am, after being allowed access by the attendants who mistook them for customers.
“They shot dead one of the vigilante operatives on sight before gunning down a worker, who was woken up by the sound of a barrage of gunshots.

“Another female sale’s attendant, who delayed when the masked pointer asked her for the key to the volt, was also killed,” the source revealed that travelers, reportedly jumped out of their vehicles and scampered for safety.
It was further learned that monies realized from the day’s sales at the petrol station were carted away by the suspects through the aid of pointer indicating where they were kept.
Police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, when contacted, said, “We’re investigating the matter and will come out with our findings later.”
