The political understanding between Governor Willie Obiano and the All Progressives Congress (APC) may falter, following plans to enlist former Senate President, the late Dr. Chuba Okadigbo’s wife in the Anambra North senatorial race.
Senator Stella Adaeze Oduah, who contended the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship ticket with Oseloka Obase, ended up working for Obiano’s emergence with assurance of automatic return ticket to the Senate.
Oduah had defected to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) shortly after Obiano won the November 2017 election in the state and picked the party’s Anambra North senatorial ticket in line with the pact.
However, sources disclosed that some influential individuals from the zone close to President Muhammadu Buhari’s government have finalised plans to draft Margery Okadigbo into the senatorial contest.

The move was allegedly informed by the fact that President Buhari contested the 2003 presidential election on a joint ticket with her husband as well as use the opportunity to requite the contributions of the late Senate President to Buhari’s presidential quest.
A presidency source told The Guardian that apart from recognising the late Okadigbo’s ideals and contributions to President Buhari’s political career, “we believe that Oduah should not be part of the Senate that Buhari wants for his second term.”
