Wakili Kabiru-Muhammad, the Nasarawa West senatorial candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party in the presidential and National Assembly elections on February 25, has taken the Independent National Electoral Commission to the Election Tribunal over the purported deletion of the party’s emblem.
Addressing to reporters shortly after submitting his suit on Saturday in Lafia, Kabiru-Muhammad said that INEC failed to clearly capture the emblem of his party on the vote papers.
The first and second defendants in the case are INEC and Ahmed Aliyu-Wadada of the Social Democratic Party, who was declared the election winner.

He said that INEC’s omission violated the terms of the Electoral Act 2022 and the 1999 Constitution.
He, therefore, called on the tribunal to nullify the election.
The petitioner said he approached the tribunal to seek redress because there were a lot of abnormalities during the elections.
He advised his supporters to remain calm and law-abiding and await the outcome of the judgment of the tribunal.
Aliyu-Wadada of the SDP polled 96,488 votes as against the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Shehu Tukur, who scored 47, 717 votes.
