The Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC) did not submit a list of nominees for Supreme Court vacancies, as reported by the National Judicial Council (NJC) on social media.
According to a report that surfaced, the FJSC released 22 names for the NJC to consider for the apex court bench openings, according to information obtained by Anaedoonline.ng.
The nomination apparently came about as a result of allegations made in September alleging that the Supreme Court was functioning with just 10 of the 21 judges required by the Constitution.

The FJSC reportedly presented a shortlist to fill the vacancies after the number of justices decreased as a result of retirements and deaths.
Soji Oye, the NJC’s director of information, responded on Sunday, stating that he has never discussed the FJSC’s list of nominees for justice with anyone.
He stressed that reports on such topics are always accompanied by an official statement from the council through his office, characterising the social media reports on the subject as the calculated work of pranksters.
Oye cautioned that the public should not be misled by unverified reports on social media about the apex court nominations and the procedure used to fill bench vacancies. She also stated that the media, particularly social media operators, should always obtain their information from the appropriate source.
