Following the Enugu State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal’s dismissal of the Labour Party’s and its candidate, Mr. Chijioke Edeoga, against the election of Mr. Peter Mbah of the PDP on Thursday, there have been some reactions.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, Justice Kudirat Akano, the chairman of the tribunal, dismissed all of the LP’s complaints during the hearing and validated the election of Mbah as the legitimate governor of Enugu State.
Mbah was allegedly disqualified by Edeoga’s application due to the forged NYSC certificate.

The state’s Commissioner for Information, Mr. Aka Eze Aka, said in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the verdict that it was expected.
“You can see the jubilation everywhere which is enough evidence that the people actually voted for Mbah.
“That goes to prove that the people of the state love him, hence, they voted massively for him,” he said.
According to Aka, the government will now focus on the several projects set up for the state’s growth as a result of the victory.
In a similar vein, Mr. Chidi Okeke, a lawyer and prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), praised the ruling as a positive development.
“We did not anticipate any less. The triumph is nice, he said.

On the other hand, the State Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Mr. Onuora Odo, called the judgement a “sham and a pervasion of justice”.
Odo, a lawyer, said that the party will undoubtedly appeal the case to a higher Court to seek redress.
