Femi Otedola, a Nigerian millionaire and businessman, made headlines on social media when he gave 750 Augustine University students in Ilara-Epe, Lagos State, gifts of one million naira per.
At the university’s fifth convocation ceremony on Thursday, the billionaire made the announcement about his donation and took office as chancellor.
Otedola posted photos from the event to Instagram along with a message expressing his hope that the donation will help the pupils during this trying time.

He said, “Today, I was officially inaugurated as the Chancellor of Augustine University. I strongly believe in transforming establishments that I am associated with.
“Therefore, to commemorate my appointment and in recognition of the harsh economic situation in our country, I gave a gift of One Million to each of the Seven Hundred and Fifty Students. I hope this donation of Seven Hundred and Fifty Million Naira assists the plight of the parents of our students in this difficult time.”
Alfred Martins, the Lagos Catholic Archbishop, attended the convocation event.
