In just one week of the six-week application period for the Nigeria Police Force’s constable cadre recruitment, a significant number of Nigerian youths have shown keen interest. The Police Service Commission announced that as of October 23, 2023, 288,266 online applications were submitted through the recruitment portal www.apply.police recruitment.gov.ng.
Among these applications, 217,105 met the initial requirements for further consideration in the recruitment process. It’s worth noting that the portal opened on October 15, 2023, and will close on November 26, 2023, to comply with the Federal Character Commission’s six-week requirement for government agency vacancies.
Of the total applicants, 217,300 applied for the General Duty position, while 70,676 applied for specialist posts. However, 69,426 applications were rejected due to not meeting the requirements, with 46,868 of them being rejected for being over the age limit.

The application requirements include Nigerian origin, possession of a National Identification Number (NIN), at least five credits in relevant subjects, age between 18-25 years, and more. The Police Service Commission assures that this recruitment process will be transparent and based on merit.
Dr. Solomon Arase, Chairman of the Commission and retired Inspector General of Police, commended the enthusiasm of Nigerian youths in pursuing a career in the Nigeria Police Force. He encourages the youth to continue applying through the recruitment portal.
