In a regional coronavirus update by the West Africa Health Organization (WAHO), Ghana and Nigeria have recorded about 49 percent of the entire cases in the region.
WAHO, the health agency of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), captured the coronavirus cases of its 15 member-states, in the report.

Out of the 16,980 coronavirus cases in the region as of May 8, Ghana and Nigeria recorded the highest cases 4,012 and 3912 respectively, totalling 7924 cases.
WAHO, in a tweet on Saturday, also stated that while there were 360 Covid-19 deaths, 4599 of the patients have recorded.
The World Health Organization (WHO) had advised African countries to strengthen their health systems for any eventuality.
