According to the Nigerian Air Force, a MI-171 helicopter carrying out a casualty evacuation operation crashed on August 14, 2023, at around 12:30 p.m., close to Chukuba Village in Niger State.
According to a statement from Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, director of public relations and information, the plane left Zungeru Primary School for Kaduna but was subsequently found to have crashed close to Chukuba Village in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

The crew and passengers aboard the chopper are currently being rescued.
He stated that first investigations have started to identify the crash’s most likely cause.
