Mmesoma Okonkwo, an Anambra girl who received the British Council Outstanding Cambridge Learner’s Award for her outstanding performance on the IGCSE English Language exam, admitted that up until the day of the award ceremony, she wasn’t sure and thought the congratulations were exaggerated.
She claimed that while she was sure of her responses, she did not think she was the greatest in the world until she noticed the award bearing the inscription “First in the World.”
Mmesoma, who won the coveted British Council Outstanding Cambridge Learner’s Award recently after competing against millions of students around the globe, recently revealed her winning experience.

Mmesoma Okonkwo, a pupil from Chrisland School in Lagos State, Nigeria, won the prize for her outstanding performance in the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) English Language exam.
Being the finest in the world, according to the pupils, came as a bit of a surprise.
She claimed that English had always been her favourite subject and that she felt comfortable with all of the responses she had selected for the test.
Furthermore, she admitted that she didn’t think she was the best in the world until she saw the trophy bearing the inscription “First in the World” on it.
She said: “When my colleagues told me I was the best in the world, I thought they were just exaggerating until I was invited to the ceremony and confirmed it myself.”

The British Council Outstanding Cambridge Learner’s Award honours outstanding student accomplishment in Cambridge examinations on a yearly basis.
