The Defence Headquarters, Abuja, said on Monday that it would deploy personnel to work with the police in ensuring compliance with the President’s announcement of lockdown in Abuja, Lagos and Ogun states.
The DHQ added that there would be penalties for people who flout the Federal Government’s directive on lockdown, saying the police were in charge of setting out punishments for the lawbreakers.
The Coordinator of the Defence Media Operations, Maj Gen John Enenche, said these during a briefing in Abuja, adding that a case of Coronavirus was also confirmed in the armed forces and the victim was already on isolation.
He said:

“I am to give you more details on the preparedness of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, which are as follows:
“A committee headed by the Chief of Defence Training and Operations is in place interfacing with all relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government of Nigeria managing the COVID 19 Pandemic.
“About 48 Disaster Response Units of the Armed Forces of Nigeria are on notice to move in conjunction with NEMA. These units will handle operations other than medicals that may arise in the course of this non-kinetic military operation.
“Finally, the Armed Forces of Nigeria are to implement all restriction on movement in line with the Federal Government of Nigeria. For the avoidance of doubt, this include the Presidential Directive given by the President and Commander In Chief, during his address to the country on Sunday.”
