In an effort to put an end to the eight-month-old industrial activities by the disgruntled public university lecturers, the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have been urged to reach a settlement.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, the Court of Appeal issued the warning yesterday in Abuja after the first attempt at reconciliation came to a standstill.
Justice Georgewill Biobele Abraham, a member of the panel of the appellate court, urged the two groups to resolve their dispute within 24 hours so that Nigerians might be pleased and appreciative of them in a speech on Wednesday in Abuja.

Justice Abraham commanded the legal representatives for the Federal Government and ASUU to first sit down as attorneys, adopt nationalistic stances, and communicate them to their clients.
“In fact, we expect to return to this court on Thursday with good news that the dispute has been thrashed out and all the appreciation of Nigerians will go to you,” he said.
Anaedoonline.ng reports that public universities in the country have been shut down since February 14 over the non-implementation of agreements reached with the government.
The academic union had appealed a ruling of the National Industrial Court compelling it to call off the strike.
