Residents of Lagos State have been warned because certain desperate criminals have recently changed how they steal people’s cars.
According to information obtained by Newsmen, one of the suspects connected to the heinous deed has been detained and is being questioned by the state police command.
According to information obtained, the criminals are currently stealing people’s cars from their parking spaces across the state using a towing van bearing the logo of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

LATSMA, however, has denied the driver who was detained and said that he was impersonating the government organisation, distancing itself from the incident.
According to reports, a woman recently created a video recording describing how some robbers tried to tow her SUV with a towing van boldly having the inscription LASTMA written on it.
She stated that at around two in the morning, she noticed a towing van pulling her SUV and thought something wasn’t right. She quickly called the police and alerted her neighbours, who helped her in pursuing the criminals, who eventually fled with the towing van and her car.
According to reports, the woman thanked God and her neighbours for their actions and questioned why a car owned by the Lagos State Government would be used to perpetrate a crime with impunity.
LASTMA Instructs Young People About Traffic Control
In a statement released through its Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, LASTMA expressed concern over the worrying development and claimed that the driver of the towing vehicle is not a LASTMA representative.
“It is important to inform the general public, particularly motoring public, that the driver Adejumo Fatai, has been apprehended and is currently at Pedro Police Station for further investigation.
“Investigations revealed that the arrested towing van driver, Adejumo Fatai, impersonated as one of the LASTMA Towing Van Operators with a fake identity card and fake LASTMA Tow Franchisee’s Sticker,” the agency noted in the statement.
Bolaji Oreagba, the general manager of LASTMA, urged the public to be cautious of dishonest individuals attempting to harm the Agency’s reputation.
