Neymar scored the only goal in the game to hand the French giants victory over Saint Etienne but the win was dubbed “a very expensive” one as it came at a hefty cost for Mbappe.
Mbappe had only been in the game 26 minutes when he was chopped down by St Etienne captain Loic Perrin in a challenge which looked pretty nasty at first glance.
Replays showed the youngster’s ankle bent inwards as a result of the challenge and sparked a brief melee between the warring teams on the pitch.

The forward was later seen walking in crutches on the touchline, an indication the injury might call for a lengthy lay off on the sidelines.
Perrin was eventually sent off but it was little consolation for PSG who need all the firepower they can muster for the Champions League.
This was PSG’s first competitive match in the country after a four-month hiatus due to the pandemic.
As it stands, PSG are in the running for a quadruple of silverware after clinching the Ligue 1 and the French Cup.
They face Lyon in the League Cup final while they have a Champions League quarter final tie against Atalanta early in August.
If Mbappe is out for more than several weeks, it will be a huge blow for PSG as the 21-year old has scored an impressive 30 goals in 33 appearances for the club this season.
Paris Saint-Germain have been handed a boost after Kylian Mbappe confirmed he will be staying at the club next campaign.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer with the La Liga champions planning to build another formidable team.
Mbappe who has been regarded as the world’s most valuable player at the moment was in action for the Ligue 1 champions in their 4-0 win over Scottish side Celtic.
