In light of intelligence inputs on potential terrorist threats, Germany’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a partial travel warning for Nigeria and advised its residents to keep travel within Abuja to a minimum.
“There is currently an increased risk of attack in Abuja. Travel to Abuja that is not absolutely necessary is therefore currently strongly discouraged,” Germany’s website stated in updated information dated October 28, 2022.
It advised citizens to avoid crowds and busy public places like markets and restaurants.
“Be extra vigilant and careful,” the German government stated.

Up to this point, several European nations, especially the United Kingdom and France, have issued warnings regarding security threats in Nigeria.
The governments of the United States and Canada have both recently cited security threats and limited diplomatic services in their facilities.
The Nigerian Police Force, meanwhile, has swung into action in the Federal Capital Territory, guaranteeing safety and distributing emergency numbers across the nation that should be fully activated for a 24/7 prompt response with combatant officers and men on standby to respond in case of emergency situations and distress calls.
Nigeria’s Department of State Service had also asked citizens to maintain their composure while remaining vigilant.
