A 25-year-old man has been detained by the Jigawa State Police Command in connection with an alleged armed robbery case.
Ibrahim Abubakar, a resident of Malamawa Village in the Dutse Local Government Area, was arrested on June 18, 2023 at 6 p.m. as a result of information gathered by agents of the Kiyawa Division.
Abubakar is accused of being a member of a syndicate terrorizing the Shuwarin-Kiyawa axis, according to a statement made by the command’s public relations officer, DSP Lawan Adam, on Wednesday in Dutse.
The statement read: “On January 21, 2023 at 1020 hrs, one Ibrahim Abubakar ‘m’ 29 years old, of Nafada LGA, Gombe State, reported at Kiyawa Police station that, on January 20, 2023, at 2100 hrs, while he was coming from Kano heading to Gombe State, hoodlums dressed in army uniform with guns and cutlasses, blocked Shuwarin to Andaza road and robbed him of the sum of N25,000 and seven GSM Android Handsets valued at N609,000.”

DSP Shiisu also said the suspect was strongly suspected to be among the syndicate terrorising the Shuwarin-Kiyawa axis, adding that “effort is in top gear to arrest the remaining gang members, upon completion of the investigation, the suspect will be charged in court.”
Similarly, in another development, the PPRO pointed out that a fake Mobile Police Corporal, one Usman Khalil, 25, of Kano State, was also arrested on June 20, 2023 at 4:40pm.
Khalil was arrested in connection with the alleged case of impersonation by the Police Mobile attached to 35PMF Dutse Jigawa State.
He maintained that Khalil, a resident of Kano State, before his arrest, went to one Bako Aliyu at mechanic village in a police uniform and bought some food commodities that cost N4,300.
He said the suspect further collected N5,000, totaling N9,300 and promised to pay it back as soon as he fixed his salary account.
“Aliyu Bako further alleged that the suspect usually comes to his shop in a Police uniform and sometimes with a gun.
“The suspect and exhibits were transferred to SCID Jigawa for a discreet investigation”, the PPRO added.
