Ebonyi State Chief Judge, Justice Anselm Nwaigwe on Monday granted 10 person bail, discharged one in remand home and 13 others remanded in the state prison.
The Chief Judge performed this assignment during jail delivery exercise which is usually performed yearly to decongest the prison and grant bail to offenders who are not meant to stay in prison.
He noted that the exercise which is ongoing, would be executed at the Correctional Service Facility in Afikpo tomorrow, adding that lawyers who have cases of interest would attend.
Nwaigwe further noted that the state judiciary enjoys a good working relationship with the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) and would not accept that it delays their cases.
“The Chief judge visits prisons from time to time to discharge or grant bail to those who are not supposed to be there.” He said
